Heuchera
'Hearts on Fire' (PP#15,320) is an unusually colorful and compact
selection, introduced in 2002.
Growth
Habit - A dense, compact
tuft 8" high X 12" wide. The erect flower stems are about 24"
tall.
Foliage
-
Small, ruffled and lobed leaves are highly silvered above and
red-purple below. The foliage is especially dense and compact and is
very colorful.
Flowers
- The flowers are medium-sized and cream
colored. Bloom time is late May to June.
Special
Features - It won
Best of Show at the North American Rock Garden Plant Show in Pittsburgh
in 2001.
Because the foliage is
dense and the flower stalks are upright, 'Hearts on Fire' has an
excellent pot presentation in small or large pots. The plants to the
right are in 6" pots; that below is in a 2.5" pot. It is an especially
good heuchera for use in containers or for a raised bed or rock garden.
